Who are we?
Growing out of Growth (GOOG) is a group of people striving to help bring about socio-ecological transformations by advocating for degrowth/post-growth ideas, values and policies.
GOOG was born when a small group of people who met through Wabi-Sabi decided to organize an event to bring together actors in the degrowth space in Berlin. The event took place in October 2024. Since then, we have been organizing regular meetups to build our capacity to follow-up on the ideas that came out of the event.
We welcome anyone who’s interested in bringing about socio-ecological transformations or has an interest in degrowth/post-growth ideas. We are not committed to a specific set of definitions of degrowth/postgrowth, or to specific policies to defend, but we all share a common commitment to radically transforming our economy to respect planetary boundaries and serve the well-being and needs of everyone. We recognise that to achieve these objectives, we need to integrate anti-imperialist and feminist approaches.

Stop Drifting, Start Creating: How to Build a Real Life in Berlin

You want to feel at home here. You want energy, purpose, and a life that doesn’t just happen to you — but one you actually enjoy waking up to.
But here’s the truth: Berlin won’t hand you that life. It won’t tell you who to be or how to belong.
That freedom can be empowering — or it can leave you drifting.
This talk offers a wake-up call and a way in.
I’ll share the shift that changed everything for me — from using Berlin as a means to an end for a decade to actually building something real here — and how you can do the same in your own way.
You’ll leave with:
If you’re tired of floating, this talk is your spark.

About Taylor
Taylor Coburn is a personal leadership coach, community builder, and unapologetic life artist based in Berlin. She moved to Germany 17 years ago and to Berlin 14 years ago, reinventing herself again and again — from glitter heiress to financier to bookkeeper to heart-based connector and coach. Each reinvention has been a new iteration of the art that is her life — not an attempt to fix the past, but a conscious choice to create from the present moment, guided by her heart. Today, she helps individuals and groups reclaim their agency, live in alignment with their truth, and build lives rooted in clarity, contribution, and self-responsibility. Taylor leads with the belief that everyone is powerful — and that thriving in Berlin starts with choosing integrity over escape, and connection over isolation.

Dreaming Cities festival
Dreaming Cities Festival by The Social Art & Social Design is back for its third year, bringing people together to talk, share ideas, and imagine new ways of shaping our cities. This year’s event will include three panel talks on Envisioning Futures, Urban Planning, and Coexistence, all connected to life in the city of Berlin. Each panel will feature two to three experts sharing their knowledge and discussing how creativity and imagination can help us build better futures, starting now.
The festival will also offer interactive activities and workshops where the audience can join in, play, and explore new ideas in fun and hands-on ways. We’ll also celebrate the opening of a new mural painted by SRH artists.

Gina Florián Bio:
My name is Gina Florian, and I’m currently pursuing a Master’s in Social Design and Sustainable Innovation at SRH Hochschule in Berlin.
I’m originally from Bogotá, Colombia, and I’m an Industrial Designer. Over the years, I’ve taken part in a variety of national and international projects centered on cultural identity and development. My work has brought me close to Indigenous and Afro descendant communities across Colombia, where I’ve supported processes of cultural recovery, the transmission of ancestral knowledge and craft techniques.
I’m deeply interested in coexistence and the integration of traditional wisdom into our everyday lives. I believe these perspectives can help us reimagine spaces in more respectful, inclusive, and creative ways.

Giving Plants a Voice
Paul is many things — a musician, gardener, and educator — but above all, a passionate plant lover. He’s dedicated to nurturing the bond between humans and nature: aesthetically through music, and by expanding that connection into public spaces with the URBAN UTOPIA Conference — the most vibrant plant-focused event in Berlin, happening soon at Holzmarkt on July 10–11.
